چکیده

Identifying acoustic sources in terms of their relative location is an important factor in active noise control. Traditional source localization measurements uses scalar pressure sensors which proved to be less accurate. Nehorai et al. proposed a different approach for source localization using vector natured acoustic intensity sensors. Four-dimensional (4-D) intensity based algorithm and three-dimensional (3-D) velocity covariance method were used for direction-ofarrival (DOA) estimation in free-space scenario. Hawkes et al. extended the free-space intensity based algorithm to account boundary reflections for DOA estimation. Performance analysis of these algorithms for both free-space and reflection boundary cases have been investigated in this

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

Source Localization with Acoustic Vector Sensors

In this paper a localization method is analyzed, which uses Acoustic Vector Sensors (AVS). An AVS measures the directed velocity and the pressure in an area approaching a single point. In order to localize sound sources, the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) was applied, which determines the signal and the noise components. MUSIC only uses the noise components (Noise Subspace) to estimate ...

Studies on underwater acoustic vector sensor for passive estimation of direction of arrival of radiating acoustic signal

A passive underwater surveillance system performs the function of detection and localisation by utilising the acoustic emissions from the source, whilst itself remaining concealed. The conventional technique employs an array of hydrophones (measure the scalar pressure), wherein the size of the array is dependent on the desired angular resolution and the wavelength of the signal to be monitored....

Experimental Results of Underwater Cooperative Source Localization Using a Single Acoustic Vector Sensor

This paper aims at estimating the azimuth, range and depth of a cooperative broadband acoustic source with a single vector sensor in a multipath underwater environment, where the received signal is assumed to be a linear combination of echoes of the source emitted waveform. A vector sensor is a device that measures the scalar acoustic pressure field and the vectorial acoustic particle velocity ...

Acoustic vector sensors increasing UAV’s situational awareness

Acoustic vector sensors (AVS), as they were recently developed based upon acoustic particle velocity sensors may improve the performance of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in terms of automatic take off and landing (ATOL), ground surveillance and mid air anti collision. Any sound field can be described by both the scalar value sound pressure and the vector value acoustic particle velocity. Only ...
